Because of an annual flower festival dating back to 1941, Summerville is commonly referred to as “Flowertown,” and many of the city’s streets, parks, and even private homes take great measures to ensure the city is filled with beautiful blooms most of the year. Summerville’s annual Flowertown Festival has grown to become the biggest arts and crafts festival in the state, but it isn’t the only unique event offered by the town. 

Sculpture in the Park, like the flower festival, is held in beautiful Azalea Park and attracts thousands of visitors each year. The seasonal farmers market is another well-known gathering spot each Saturday from April through October, with farmers and other vendors offering local produce, jams, baked goods, and crafts.

Summerville is filled with historic charm, with more than 700 homes and buildings listed on the National Register of Historic Places. You can stroll around and absorb the area’s history or head out a little further from town and enjoy the beautiful scenery of nature.
