PARKS & RECREATION
Chesterfield County is home to many beautiful parks, among them the popular Pocahontas Site Park where you can take a canoe trip on the Swift Creek Lake, visit the park’s Nature Center, swim in the Aquatic recreational center or attend a Pocahontas Premieres special summertime event. If you are a history buff, there are several historic battlefields and forts you can visit in the area, chief among them is Fort Darling. This Civil War-era fort located at Drewry’s Bluff is now a park that features the well preserved fort, walking trails, river views and a Confederate giant cannon.
The excitement of Richmond is just minutes away, with theater and opera houses, the annual RVA Street Art Festival, renowned southern cuisine and a growing “foodie status”, and a broad historic district. Rated as one of the Top 100 Best Places to Live by Money Magazine, Midlothian offers the GRTC transportation system, an AMTRAK station, close proximity to the beach and mountains, and convenient access to several highways and Interstate 95.
There is always something going on in the Richmond Region, including outdoor sports at Dominion Riverrock, the Richmond Jazz Festival, National Beer and Richmond Wine expos, many art shows, a variety of food festivals, cultural dance events, trolley tours of its many historic districts, riverfront canal cruises, and more!
