Overview
Covington is a city in Newton County, Georgia, located 26 miles east of Atlanta. As of the 2010 Census, its population was 13,118. The city was founded by European immigrants and was incorporated in 1821 and was named for United States Army Brigadier General and United States Congressman Leonard Covington, a hero of the War of 1812.

Known as the Hollywood of the South, this film town boasts locations from The Dukes of Hazzard, In the Heat of the Night, The Vampire Diaries and Sweet Magnolias, along with 140 other films including American Reunion (the American Pie sequel), Footloose (the remake), Sweet Home Alabama, Remember the Titans, My Cousin Vinny, Cannonball Run and more. The thriving downtown has locally owned boutiques, antique stores and restaurants.

Historic Downtown
Covington's downtown is the quintessential Southern small- town square. Many of the businesses on the Square are family owned and operated and have been in business for decades. The city maintains many of the beautiful antebellum homes just a couple of blocks off the Square.

Turner Lake Park
Home to four state-of-the-art Softball/Baseball Fields. This park encompasses 158 acres with 26-acre lake. Enjoy bike trails, fishing, pavilions, picnic areas and playground. It offers a 34,000 square foot building housing a meeting room, full service senior center, gymnasium and more.
Sawtooth Ranch
Established in October 2014. The farm was named after the Sawtooth Oak trees the original builder planted back in 1988. You will see these trees as you enter the driveway and in a few of the paddocks as well. They have a small outdoor arena and a small cross country set up.
Eastside Trail
Running 2.5 miles from downtown Covington to Eastside High School, this is Newton County's newest multi-use greenway trail. Opened in early 2013, the 10-foot-wide concrete path begins off Ramsey Drive in Covington, just west of the Newton County Public Library and meanders through a woodland area over rolling terrain.
