A Land of Pride and Progress
Spanish Fork first appeared on John C. Fremont’s map in 1845, marking the location where the Dominguez-Escalante expedition from Sante Fe, New Mexico, emerged after following the canyon and river toward California. Enoch Reece built the city’s first home in 1850, and within a couple of years, the population grew to over 100 families from Irish, English, Scottish, Welsh, and Scandinavian backgrounds. They created a sawmill and flour mill, and a mercantile soon followed.
Today, Spanish Fork is still a great place to settle. Residents enjoy camping and fishing along the scenic Spanish Fork River Trail as well as the local water park, multiple city parks, and The Oaks golf course. Other top attractions include Daughters of the Utah Pioneers Museum, an annual Fiesta Days celebration, Utah County Fair at Spanish Fork Fairgrounds, and the Festival of Lights. The Shri Shri Radha Krishna Temple, located south of the city proper, is a popular landmark destination among locals and tourists alike.
