Area Information
CLINTON, MD
Welcome to Clinton, Maryland! Founded in the 1770s, originally as Surratt’s Villa, the town consisted of a post office, an inn, tavern, and a polling place. The town was renamed as Surrattsville in the 1800s, which is still the name of the local high school. After one final name change, the town became known as Clinton.
Growth in the town began in the 1950s due to the expansion of Joint Base Andrews, the home of the Air Force Systems Command and the President of the United Stated plane, Air Force One. Clinton is within 35 minutes to Washington, D.C. and the Washington Metrorail system is nearby, providing passenger transportation.
Locals love to frequent the National Harbor waterfront where there is easy access to shopping, dining, and entertainment. If you are looking to experience the outdoors, you will be surrounded by a variety of recreational parks, including Louise F. Cosca Regional. The park offers over 600 acres of hiking, biking, and camping grounds.
