Head downtown for a glimpse of Navasota’s arts and culture scene! Check out the SH 6 Bridge Mosaics that reflect life in Grimes County or the wall murals showing Navasota’s long history. Relax with friends at Rail & Rye Rooftop Bar or Red Board Tavern & Table. Understand why this city is known as The Blues Capital of Texas with plenty of live music opportunities nightly. If you’re itching for a dance, the Western Steakhouse & Dancehall has plenty of room for some Texas Two-Stepping.
Navasota is home to many historical sites depicting the stories of those who shaped the early city. Look out for the architectural details of surrounding homes and the remnants of the Railroad District’s history. Throughout the city are several historical bronze statues representing the city’s rich history including Marshall Frank Hamer, the Texas Ranger who took down the infamous Bonnie and Clyde, and Mance Lipscomb, the blues singer who started it all.
There is no shortage of celebrations when it comes to this city. The community calendar is full of annual festivals and events that you won’t want to miss. In March, take part in the Texas Birthday Bash—two days of festivities honoring Texas Independence Day.
