Parks and Recreation

Riverwalk Trail: The Riverwalk Trail is where cyclists and walkers from all around come to convene. With your adventure starting at the path to Glass island and Kiwanis Park, take the path that leads you underneath the Lord Delaware Bridge. On your journey, overlook the Mattaponi river past the marshland and enjoy the extravagant sights. The river also conveniently neighbors the Pocahontas State Park, with trails that go up for 64 miles.

Historic Walking Tour: We follow the streets’ grid pattern along the sidewalks around the historic downtown area on this tour. Several historic buildings within the district reflect periods representing Victorian Italianate, Queen Anne, and Gothic Revival styles.

Glass Island Landing: Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries owns and operates the popular Glass Island Landing facility in West Point, which provides fishing access, a boat ramp, picnicking facilities, and parking.

Arts and Festivals

Crab Carnival: West Point’s Crab Carnival is held the first weekend in October and features parades, live music, booths, bike races, street fairs, and, of course, seafood galore.

Jammin on the Point Summer Concert Series: From May to August, a summer concert series is held at the Town Square on 8th and 9th Streets on Friday nights from 6 to 9:30 pm. A variety of music is featured, and all proceeds benefit the West Point community.

Downtown Playground: Children can enjoy the playground located at 8th Street and Kirby Street in the downtown area, which features swings, climbing equipment, and slides.

Annual Town of West Point Farmer’s Market: It doesn’t matter what you grow, produce, or manufacture in Virginia; you can sell it at the Farmer’s Market! The free community event is held every Saturday from 8:00 am to 12:00 noon.
