Find Your New Home in Tri-Cities, Washington

At D.R. Horton, we are excited to serve as your new home builder. With homes in our Tradition Series and Express series, we have a home for every stage in life.

Life in Washington’s Wine Country

Kennewick, Pasco, Richland, and West Richland have experienced consistent growth and economic expansion in the 21st century and is considered the fastest-growing area in the state. Boating, hiking, and fishing are popular activities, as well as wine tours and frequent festivals. The semi-arid climate means there are far more sunny and clear days than the western side of the state, with only seven inches of average precipitation annually.

What is there to do in Tri-Cities, Washington?

Tri-Cities boasts a plethora of outdoor activities. Peppered along the banks of each of the rivers are walking trails, swimming holes, and boat launches. Local companies offer jet ski and paddleboard rentals. Famous in the area is Badger Mountain, a ridge with hiking and views of both sunsets and sunrises over the Columbia Basin. Star gazing is elite in the Tri-Cities due to the clear skies and low light pollution. Sometimes you can even see the aurora borealis!

Tri-Cities is also considered the heart of Washington’s wine country, famed for its cabernet, syrah, and chardonnay.  With over 200 local wineries in the area, there are plenty of tours that make for a great weekend activity and draw a lot of visitors to the region. The food scene has everything from fine dining to casual, with fresh seafood and local produce. Sink your teeth into the annual Taco Crawl in the spring or a crawfish boil in the fall.

What is the weather like in Tri-Cities, Washington?

Tri-Cities is in the Columbia basin, with an arid climate and four seasons. Its most common weather is sunny and clear, with plenty of wind over the rivers. The temperature usually stays above freezing, though it may drop below sometimes in the winter with a few inches of snowfall. In the summer, there are days where the temperature goes over 100 degrees, so having air conditioning at home is a good idea. Not-so-coincidentally, all our D.R. Horton homes in Tri-Cities have A/C.

What is the cost of living in Tri-Cities, Washington?

Compared to its westerly neighbors like Vancouver and Portland, homes in the Tri-Cities are affordable. Home size can vary widely around the area, so there are plenty of options to fit your needs. Washington does not have a state income tax, which many residents appreciate. Businesses have been meeting the population growth in the area and moving into the region, and environmental projects have created a steady job market.
