Overview

Dacula, pronounced (də-KEW-lə), is part of Gwinnett County, cradled between the transportation routes of Georgia Highway 316, U.S. 29 and the CSX Railroad. The City of Athens and the University of Georgia is approximately 40 minutes east and downtown Atlanta is about the same proximity south. The population in 2019 was 6,882.

Trivia

By combining Decatur and Atlanta, Dacula is created; the name is approved by the United States Post Office and Dacula, Georgia is formed in 1891.

Things To Do In Dacula

Hamilton Mill Golf Club

Private championship course features 18 holes of golf designed by Fred Couples and Gene Bates. This course has beautiful panoramic views and impeccable year-round conditioning. This Par 72 course is well deserving of its frequent recognition as one of Atlanta’s Top 10 golf courses. 

Little Mulberry Park

There are 4 entrances to this scenic park. It features pavilions, playground and includes 15 miles of paved and non-paved trails for multi-use for horses and hikers, plus a fishing lake and disc golf course.

Rabbit Hill Park

This park offers multi-use sports fields for soccer, softball and baseball plus pavilions, picnic areas, volleyball, walking trails, playground area, and a dog park with separate areas for large and small breeds.

Dacula Park

Located across from Dacula High School, this 76-acre community park features a paved walking trail that winds through the woods. There is also a playground, large pavilion with picnic tables and community center. Many youth sporting events are hosted at the football complex, baseball/softball fields, tennis courts and the pool is home to the Dacula Dolphins swim club.

Mall of Georgia

Opened in 1999, it is currently one of the largest shopping malls in both the Atlanta Metropolitan Area and the state of Georgia, including a 20-screen Regal Cinemas and an IMAX Theater. There is also a large village section with lifestyle tenants and a variety of restaurants in an outdoor setting, as well as a 500-seat amphitheater.

Elisha Winn House

The Dacula area is home to some of the oldest buildings in greater Atlanta, such as the Elisha Winn House, which originally acted as the courthouse for Gwinnett County. Built in 1812, the house is the oldest surviving building in Gwinnett and one of the oldest buildings in metropolitan Atlanta. There is an annual fair the first weekend of every October sponsored by the Gwinnett Historical Society as a fundraiser to keep the house in good shape.

Duncan Creek Park and Skate Park

When you’re ready to get active, this 110-acre public recreation spot has a lighted skate complex, multi-purpose/football field, basketball courts, three sand volleyball courts, pavilion and walking track.

Stars and Strikes Family Entertainment Center

Family fun center with bowling, laser tag, bumper cars and arcade. Available for parties and corporate events.
