Life in Flowery Branch
The name flowery branch came from the Cherokee saying of “flowers on the branch.” Some locals also call the city “Blossom Creek” from a Native American name for the area. Flowery Branch has small town appeal with many large town amenities. One of the city’s noticeable landmarks are the rows of historic buildings that fill up the town’s downtown. A stroll down Main Street will transport you back in time to the city’s beginnings. Many of Flowery Branch’s historic downtown buildings are now restaurants, antique shops and specialty stores.
Besides historic shops, Flowery Branch also has a historic train depot that played a big role in the town’s cotton-producing beginnings in the late 1800s.
The other popular Flowery Branch landmark is Lake Lanier, where visitors can swim, fish, and boat year-round. There are also hiking and mountain biking trails as well as camping along the shores of the lake.
