Clayton is located in southern Hendricks County and is easily accessible from Danville, Plainfield, Brownsburg, Avon, and downtown Indianapolis.

Clayton is known for hosting the annual Fall Festival in September, sponsored by the Clayton Community Association. The festival features horse pulls, tractor pulls, live bands, food, kids' games, bingo, parade, and more. Clayton also sponsors the "Triple F Ride" in June, a non-profit bike rally that starts at Lambert Park.
